Description
The Canteen Gourd is a round variety of bottle gourd with a smooth, hard shell. Picked young, its pale flesh is mild and tender, good for simmering into soups and stews or stir-frying with spices. Left to mature and dry, the tough shell has long been used across Africa to make bowls, storage vessels, and instruments.
